Should We Have Kids — If They Die?

I watched a movie last night.  No one knows the name of it.  I’ve asked everybody!

It was the one with the aliens in black eggs parked all around the world and a woman breaks the language barrier.

Interesting question was posed by this movie:

If you can see the future and you see your young child dying — should you prevent that future or embrace that brief happiness.

Let’s add another dimension to the same question:

If you can see the future and you see you will have a painful divorce — should you prevent that marriage?

Christians have it easy here.  Christians are taught that God has the future completely planned.  The people who suffer the most believe that God is responsible and has a plan.  Whenever they are healed they believe God has kept them alive “for a purpose.”  People who are wealthy think God had nothing to do with it.

This movie, posed the question in an interesting manner.

If you can see the future and see your young child dying — should you tell your spouse?

If you are afraid / concerned that your spouse won’t want to have a child that dies at age 10 — should you keep that secret?

The movie’s writer/director/producers decided to portray the answer as:

“Yes.  Deceive your mate and have the kid, then spend the rest of your life mourning your child after your spouse leaves you for deceiving them.”

That’s the story of the movie.

So I’ve been asking everyone today that question:  “Would you have a child if you knew it would die at age ten?”

I’m not going to tell you what the answers have been… yet.  Let’s see what COMMENTS we receive here.
